MONROVIA.- The Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) has agreed to fund the adquisition of new X-Ray equipment for the Saint Joseph´s Catholic Hospital, worth USD $190,000, in a joint project with the Spanish NGO “Juan Ciudad”.

The aim of the project is to renew the diagnosis by image systems in the Hospital, along with training Liberian professionals in the use of the newest scanning technologies.

With the help of these two institutions, the X-Ray Unit of the Hospital will benefit from the use of one of the newest digital imaging systems, including a Phillips Buckydiagnost CS X-Ray wall-mounted unit, a Phillips computerized radiography system and a Kodak DryView radiography printer.

The new digital system will enable the fast sending of screenings to other dispositives such as Doctors´ PCs, and will lessen the number of exposures to radiation needed to get the plates.
