Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics is responsible for the comprehensive care, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease conditions in children from 0 to 14. This includes post natal care of babies and vaccination against the killer diseases until the age of nine months.

At the Saint Joseph´s Catholic Hospital we focused in these approaches:

  • Clinical pediatrics: attention and care of children through diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, being all of them coordinated with other departments of the Hospital, if needed.
  • Preventive pediatrics and childcare: emphasis in health promotion and disease prevention is set through different activities such as the control program of a healthy child, promotion of breast feeding, control and monitoring of vaccination programs,
  • Oral health and vision care would be desirable to complete prevention, but we can´t offer these serviceses since there are very few dentists, ophtalmologists and opticians in the country.

The Pediatrics Department is formed by Dr. Fanta and Dr. Massaquoi.
